It is hard to write a great song, but it is even harder to write a song which has a beautiful meaning behind. Macklemore`s “Same Love” uses the most smooth and relaxed tone to give his support and empowerment to the LGBT group.The simple melody of the song and the comfortable piano sounds in the background reflects the purity of the love. This is the same love that everyone could have no matter whom you are falling in love with. Meanwhile, this love is natural, and nothing can change it, neither the God or the laws. Besides the religions, Macklemore believes legalizing the marriage for the LGBT couples will not change the others` views to the LGBT`s love. Only when people change their prejudices and bias by themselves, they will accept the love between the LGBT couples.
As he says in the song, “I might not be the same”, Macklemore is a straight man, so it can be hard for him to truly understand the bitter journeys of LGBT people. However, though we cannot truly understand their awful experiences, it is better for us to be with them as an alliance rather than being indifferent. This is what I learned from the “Same Love.”
